Their combo plate is a great way to taste several Hawaiian dishes. We had the Kulua Pig plate and the BBQ chicken. I like that you can choose between, several types of sides so you can have a healthy meal with brown rice and salad or a comfort meal with fried rice and potato mac salad. All the food was tasty but my favourite was the BBQ chicken as it had a little bit of spice to it.

This place is a gem! The food was so good we went back and plan on it next trip out! Located in Salt this spot is a must the food was amazing service was excellent and the location is super convenient...not to mention surrounded by a bunch of beautiful local art!

This place was recommended to us for a traditional Hawaiian food, wow! So glad we came. Food and the beers were so good. We came mid afternoon and it was no wait at all. Eileen helped us, she was great! We definitely want to come back before our trip is over.

This place is awesome! Came to the island for the first time and the family wanted to try authentic Hawaiian food versus food from the hotel. The Hawaiian Loco was amazing. Such richness and flavor was quite a delight. My 11 year-old son ate the chicken barbecue, which was exquisite as well. The fried sweet potato was a nice addition to the meal. I recommend wearing here away from the Waikiki beach resorts. Coming from California I’m used to eating at Ono Hawaiian, but doesn’t compare to the taste from the Highway Inn.

We had a lovely lunch at Highway Inn. I was really hoping for breakfast, but unfortunately we missed it. There was a bit of a wait when arrived, but nothing crazy. Since we were party of two we were sat pretty quickly. Our waitress was super friendly, and our food came crazy fast. My mom and I shared a Loco Moco and a Smoke Moco. Both were excellent. After having loco Moco in Ca and Japan, it was nice to finally try a truly authentic loco Moco. Portions were large and priced weren’t outrageous. The menu has a ton of options. I’d love to come back and try breakfast.

I visited Highway Inn Kaka'ako to try traditional Hawaiian food, and it went far beyond my expectations. The flavors, the presentation, and the overall experience were all fantastic. If you're going solo and don't mind sitting at the bar, you might get seated pretty quickly. Otherwise, be prepared for a bit of a wait—this place is popular for a reason! That said, once seated, the food came out fast, and the service was excellent. The quality of the food was phenomenal—authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes and quality. I also really appreciated the small guide they provide, which explains what each traditional dish is—super helpful if you're new to Hawaiian cuisine. I'd highly recommend Highway Inn Kaka'ako to anyone looking to experience real Hawaiian food in a welcoming, down-to-earth spot.

This place was recommended by the local guide on our harbour tour as the best Hawai’i food, and he wasn’t wrong! The deep fried fish collar with gravy was amazing, sounds weird I know, but it was so tasty! We got the Highway Inn sampler plate, and the Haupia was better than the one we got at a Luau last night. The waitress Angie was so friendly to the kids, and she made some great dish recommendations. Best Hawaiian food so far!

Outstanding breakfast! We had to wait about 30 minutes, but it was worth the wait. My husband had a savory omelette, and I had the sweet bread French toast. I was asked which sauce I wanted - liliko'i sauce or haupia sauce. I didn't know which one to choose, so the precious lady who took care of us suggested I try both. They were both so rich and delicious! You don't want to miss out on this great spot!
